It was a hot summer day in August 2018. I was grinding away working on sprucing up my resume after being a stay-at-home mom for 2+ years. That’s when I saw it. A beautiful blog written by a former co-worker of mine.

It hit me hard, and I found myself envious.

I’ve wanted to write since I was 10 years old, but I was too afraid and full of doubt to write consistently. Sure there was that travel blog, among others, but I didn’t keep at it for long.

And there she was—writing a blog for a cool sports company. Sure, millions of people write blogs, but because I knew her personally, it struck something deep inside me.

Then my soul whispered:
If she could do it, maybe I too could too?

I tried to ignore the whisper and sent out dozens of resumes instead, and yet there it was silently beckoning me at every turn. 

I never had a problem finding work, but this time it took months.

The universe was sending me a clear message — now is the time.

So I started a blog called, Simply Be Mama. I wrote for months.

I didn’t know if anything would ever come of it, but now that I started, I couldn’t stop.

The truth is, I had no roadmap. There was no guidebook on how to follow your heart.

But I figured it out, day by day and moment by moment.

Eventually, I found a full-time job, yet worked tirelessly in between work and being there for my young family.

I was recognized as a Top Writer in Inspiration on Medium (one of the biggest writing websites in the world), and my writing was featured in Scary Mommy.

I tasted success, and it encouraged me to keep believing and keep moving toward that dream that quietly called me that hot day in August.

I dropped out of corporate life after spending more than 12 years, providing award-winning communications and marketing for big corporations in the healthcare, energy, telecommunications and education industries.

I took my years of knowledge in writing news articles, creating marketing materials, and putting together communications plans to help solopreneurs and small businesses share what they love to do with the world.

The light inside of me grew.

I started coaching women on how to follow their hearts, own their desires, step into their purpose without burning out in the process.

My soul was on fire.

I went from doubting myself, constantly seeking validation and approval from others and wondering if I was good enough to believing in myself, and living my dreams.

Was it easy? No.

Was it worth it? Absolutely, yes!

I set boundaries and stopped people-pleasing.

I started valuing my opinion over others.

I realized I was inherently worthy and left the hustle all the time mentality behind.

There was no playbook for me.

That’s why I’m obsessed with what I do.
